| Customer Reviews: For me, surprisingly helpful July 31, 2010 Careful Shopper (Durham, NC, USA) This is a review of "Thorne Research Meta-Fem Capsules", a nutritional supplement marketed "for women over 40". I'm posting my observations in case such might be helpful, but I urge the reader to talk with her doctor before trying any new supplements. --I did. I always approach supplements with caution.
I tried this Thorne product after rejecting many others. I took Myadec for most of my adult life, and when that was discontinued, I searched for a replacement that would have a similarly positive effect on my overall stamina and energy. Fatigue has always been a real issue for me due to long-standing orthopaedic issues, all the more so "over 40". I should add that I was searching for non-HRT options in dealing with low energy.
Almost immediately upon beginning to introduce "Meta-Fem" to my intake at a fraction of the full dose, I noticed what I felt was a startling improvement in my daily energy level. By the time I was at half the dose, I'd gone from constant fatigue to simple tiredness for at least part of each day. As an experiment, I did try switching back to other supplements. My energy levels dropped sharply.
Eventually, I decided to take 3/4 of the recommended daily dose to supplement a sensible food intake. This arrangement affords me an almost normal level of get-up-and-go as well as very good nutritive coverage.
As I mentioned, I made a point of having my MDs review these supplements. I actually made sure that they read the whole list of ingredients on the label. They saw nothing there to alarm them on my behalf. It puzzles them that I get such good results from these supplements, but that is not a deal-breaker for me.
Kind reader, please realize that this is just my own experience, and may not be applicable to others. I post it in case it may be helpful to some.
Also in case it might be helpful, I'd like to mention a searchable database of herbs and other products that is maintained by Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. I use it as one input to the process of checking out claims about various supplements. A Web search for their name plus the word "database" will bring up a current link.
Thorne Meta-Fem Tablets November 2, 2008 Monika L. Hudson I have found this product to be a perfect adjunct to a well-balanced diet. When tested, I appear to have the full compliment of vitamins for a woman over 40. I highly recommend daily consumption of this product.
