Product Description
  • "I'm 42-years-old, but feel like I'm 62."
  • "I have lost my glow."
  • "I miss the woman I used to be."
  • "I'm so afraid of getting older."

If you've had these or similar thoughts, you're not alone. Robin McGraw, wife of television talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw, receives thousands of emails from women asking her what she does to look and feel so vibrant, energetic and healthy at the age of 55. It all started back in Robin's twenties and thirties when pivotal moments in her life made her realize that if she did not put her health and well-being first, no one else would. One such moment came in her early thirties when Robin experienced the sudden death of her mother, a wonderful woman who put the needs of her family above her own and, as a result, didn't know that her health was ailing. This tragedy made Robin realize that in order to be the best wife, mother and woman possible, she had to take care of herself as if her life depended on it.

In What's Age Got To Do With It, Robin urges you to do the same and shows you that it's not selfish to take care of yourself. Robin says, "I wrote this book, not only to answer questions about what I do to stay healthy and in shape, but to remind women that it's time to move yourself to the top of your list of priorities. If you can't do it for you, then do it for your family.  Because my precious mother never did that, she missed out on so many wonderful years and experiences. I realized that it doesn't make you a better wife or parent if you're sacrificing everything -including your health, soul and spirit -for your family.  I refuse to perpetuate that legacy and I want you to join me and get excited about living your life in a passionate, happy and healthy way. It's never too early to start taking care of yourself, but it's also never, ever too late."

4 out of 5 stars What's Age Got to do With it?   June 23, 2010
Cass Darrow (Leland, NC United States)
I really enjoyed this book. Robin has a great conversational style, and reading it was almost like sitting down with a friend over coffee and discussing what works for us in life and what doesn't. She's got chapters on hair and beauty and fashion and menopause and all that, but mostly her philosophy boils down to find out what works for you, and then do it. Pursue your health and happiness as if it were actually important, because it is! And obviously, that philosophy is working for her, because she's gorgeous and vibrant and still overflowing her cup at 55!

I've lent this book out to my mother, and I'll be lending it to Aunt Lady when Mama is done with it, and then possibly to That One's mom. I love to spread a good book around!

5 out of 5 stars loved it!   June 14, 2010

I have just finished reading her book after having it for one year.. I purchased it when I was 55 too, so now that I'm 56 , i felt compelled to read it. I truly loved it. It is her story and her answers to what people have asked her. Robin 's advice is to take the time to do what works for you. Her LA methods are extremely expensive, I agree, but this is what she does for herself. We are not all married to a TV star , but she does show us how to use homemade methods. Her real point it that we women all need a kick in the butt to remind ourselves that we are important too. Her stories are funny, real and very woman-friendly. I really enjoyed this book. I will take her recommendations and keep her book forever. Thank you, Robin.. you're the best.

4 out of 5 stars It's Almost There...   May 21, 2010
Mom of Four Sons (Dallas, Texas)
Robin McGraw looks great and seems to have it all together. This book combines advice that Robin has learned from many resources, along with her personal routine for health and fitness. The chapters are all outlined under the "What's .... Got to Do With It?" Beginning with "What's Age Got to Do With It", she quickly gets into the two chapters with the buzz words of fitness and nutrition. She gives information on Dr. Phil's nutritional eating plan. She then moves to skin and hormones which are both valid, interesting chapters. The next few chapters could be omitted in my opinion. They deal with more of the vain side of happiness: hair, makeup, and fashion. The last chapter was excellent. She shared where her inspiration comes from, and the reader is able to finally get to know the true Robin McGraw. The title of that chapter is "What's Faith Got to Do With It?" All in all, I would recommend this book. I, again, could do without the vain sections of self-improvement, but everything else was interesting and well-written.

4 out of 5 stars Easy to read   April 8, 2010
C. Miller (Ohio United States)
I received a copy of this from Thomas Nelson to review.

It's an enjoyable read... nothing earth-shattering but some good, basic, information.
The tips were easy to follow and understand. The language of the text is easy to digest.

4 out of 5 stars This book is insight, not direction, from a man author   February 23, 2010
Steven C. Mitchell (Los Angeles, CA)
When a person reads a book, don't rate it on rather or not you've heard the information before. I facilitate workshop, and I sit in other peoples facilitated workshops just to get more insight. It's good to hear life from multiple perspectives, even if the material is familiar. Repetition is one of the dimensions of the mind. Hearing something over and over again helps information stick. never feel you have mastered information to the point that you can't make use of hearing again. The book was pretty good... and this is a man speaking.
