Amazon.com Review It's not all about the jeans; flattening the tummy helps fight "Toxic Fat"--the disease-inducing weight Dr. Pamela Peeke teaches women how to conquer in Body-for-LIFE for Women. Her firm belief is, most women already know what they're supposed to do: eat a balanced diet, ditch junk food, exercise, think positively. Peeke strives to show her "girlfriends" how to accomplish these tasks, customizing plans for young and old. Clients' stories (including a 95-year-old who worked herself out of a wheelchair and into a martial arts class, and a 14-year old who replaced 90 lbs. of fat with a healthy load of self-confidence) lend credence to Peeke's 12-week weight reduction plan; so do the wowsie before-and-after pictures. Gender-specific scientific evidence supports Peeke's premise that women's bodies require different care than men's. But she doesn't stop there. Amazon.com Interview Read our interview with Pam Peeke. | | Peeke digs deeper for her audience, defining four hormonal milestones of a woman's life (menarche to beyond menopause) and customizing a physical and mental transformation plan to suit each. Easing off on strict calorie and weight guidelines, she focuses instead on serious fat reduction, muscle improvement, and practical suggestions for self-care. A handful of charts and formulae help readers assess their progress; sample exercises and fitness logs help, too. But for Peeke, weight reduction pales to bolstering a woman's self-worth through nurturing healthier habits. The only rough pill to swallow is Peeke's two-page list of smart foods: it lacks suggestions for turning acceptable proteins, carbohydrates and fats into palatable daily meals.--Liane Thomas

Body For Life for Woman: A woman's plan for physical and mental transformation August 21, 2010 Danielle I loved this book. It gave me so many ideas and tips to use with all the other health and fitness I have learned so far.
You Can See The Proof When You Open the Book August 14, 2010 Charles Prosper (Los Angeles, CA) The thing that is most striking about "Body for Life for Women" by Pamela Peeke just as the blockbuster "Body for Life" by Bill Phillips is seeing all of the social proof in the way of a plethora of impressive before and after photos of those women who have followed this system. No matter what you might have to say about this book, it does have one distinct advantage. The principles work.
I like any approach for women fitness that includes the use of progressive weight resistance, that is, the use of barbells and dumbbells to strength, shape and sculpt the body while burning off all excess fat. I think that it is probably a little less complete that Phillips' book, but it is indeed worthy of purchasing and being read.
So far, very good July 1, 2010 Lorii (Hamilton, Bermuda) From the very beginning, you realize that if you are committed to changing your lifestyle this is the book that will get you there.
From the Female Perspective May 15, 2010 Anne B. Jones (Atlanta) I enjoyed this CD enough to order her book- thought it had info I was not ordinarily exposed to and did not know. It was interesting to have health issues addressed from a woman's viewpoint.
I LOVE the information in the book, but Kindle Edition is too difficult to read February 27, 2010 J.T. (PINCKNEY, MI, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recommend that you buy the hardcover edition of this book. I give that version 5 stars! The Kindle edition is difficult to read because several of the side notes in the book interupts the actual chapters, so several paragraphs of a different topic is inserted in the middle of a sentence. She also refers to a lot of page numbers for charts and additional information, which page numbers don't exsist in the kindle edition. Several of the charts were also too difficult to read because of the size of the font(which you cannot enlarge in the charts). I found I had to continuously bookmark and highlight information so I could find it again. Once I finished reading the book on my kindle, I borrowed the hard cover from the library so I could get all the chart information.
I have read what seems like every piece of information I can find on this topic, including the original Body for Life by Bill Phillips. This is the book that finally put it all together for me and now I've "got it"!
