Good Book June 28, 2010 Paige I was diagnosed with PCOS this year (2010) and my doctor really didn't tell me much about what PCOS was. I found this book and read it and it gave a lot of details into symptoms and stories of women living with PCOS. I enjoyed the stories since it helped me to realize I wasn't alone with this.
Out of date/incorrect nutritional info June 16, 2010 S. Wilkirson 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Sorry, but while she might have great things to say on other topics, her information on a vegetarian diet is sadly out of date and she seems to know nothing at all about veganism. For example--on one page she lists vegetarian forms of protein that is woefully inadequate (about five items) and relies heavily on soy and dairy, two categories that many people are sensitive/allergic to. Look to books by Drs. Tom and Neal Barnard instead for info on how to eat to get your body back into line and prevent future problems from arising.
Excellent for women with PCOS April 26, 2010 S (Nashville, TN USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having PCOS I found that this book was excellent. The information was very well researched and had countless helpful tips on how to deal with PCOS starting with nutrition and working out and it even dealt with fertility and menopause issues. It is a must for women with PCOS. My father is a doctor who deals with PCOS patients and after I recommended this book to him he read it and now refers it to all his patients with PCOS!
Very Comprehensive March 7, 2010 M. Coppola 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently read "The Ultimate PCOS Handbook" and was very pleased with how comprehensive this book is. It covers the basics and discusses medical treatments available, but also gives great information on more holistic treatment options. This book made me realize I have more options than my doctors had been giving me (birth control pill when avoiding pregnancy and clomid when trying to conceive). I highly recommend this book if you have have been diagnosed with PCOS and are looking for ways to take control of your condition as naturally as possible.
I Love this book! February 13, 2010 teanink (Australia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is dealing with PCOS and is interested in learning more.
The thing I liked most about this book is the fact that it doesn't just focus on taking the pill, it covers a plethora of different ways to manage symptoms of PCOS. Some examples include eating right, exercising, herbal remedies, aromatherapy, and acupuncture. Personally, I do not like the idea of functioning from a synthetic pill. I am more interested in healing naturally. This book is a superb resource. It can be read straight through, or it can be used as a reference when you just want to look something up. I have used it for both.
I recommend this book and know that I will keep it in my collection for years to come.
