| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Fears, anxieties, traumas, and physical and emotional shocks imprint on the body and remain dormant in its vast memory store until they are roused by an event or encounter. They may manifest in a different form or place—a fearful incident may transform itself into a stomachache or a headache, or even a chronic disease. Pain creates its own path. In particular, psychological and emotional stresses affect the functioning of the internal organs. In Understanding the Messages of Your Body, Dr. Jean-Pierre Barral explains the relationships that exist between internal organs and emotions, to allow us to free ourselves from the effects of present and past tensions and traumas.
The book opens with an explanation of the body-mind relationship and goes on to show how physical-emotional therapy works based on examples from Dr. Barral’s clinical practice. The second part of the book offers detailed analyses of various “types” of human personality and the physical-emotional complexes and related organ dysfunctions that accompany them. The author offers advice and encouragement to improve physical, psychological, and emotional health, and recommends physical exercises, psychotherapeutic approaches, and dietary plans that can be used by both professional therapists and the average reader.

| Customer Reviews: Very informative June 19, 2009 J.J. (usa) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a GREAT companion book for body workers, especially those practicing any type of visceral work. Very simple language, easily readable by the layperson. Great insights and tips based on Barral's experience and studies for physical and emotional health. Highly recommended.

I am a physical therapist with 3 years studies in osteopathic medicine. My background dictated higher expectations from this book. At best, this book is ment for a lay person with some curiosity as to how the body responds to emotional strains, with a focus from organ to organ. It is basic in its concepts and basic in its connections with nutrition and other therapies. The stories Dr. Barral gives are interesting in seeing the connection between emotion and organ involved. Even as a lay person, however, one can see the conflicts and inconsistencies in the information presented. For example, the same emotions affect different organs, it appears. The scope Dr. Barral wanted to cover in this book is overwhelming and some things cannot be simplified and presented in a concise manner. Dr. Barral is a seasoned clinicial with deep, rooted wisdom and I was hoping to get more of those pearls of wisdom in this book.
Very interesting! July 9, 2008 G. Suzuki 3 out of 14 found this review helpful
