Product Description THE EAGERLY AWAITED COLLECTION OF PERSONAL ESSAYS FROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF MY HORIZONTAL LIFEWhen Chelsea Handler needs to get a few things off her chest, she appeals to a higher power -- vodka. You would too if you found out that your boyfriend was having an affair with a Peekapoo or if you had to pretend to be honeymooning with your father in order to upgrade to first class. Welcome to Chelsea's world -- a place where absurdity reigns supreme and a quick wit is the best line of defense. In this hilarious, deliciously skewed collection, Chelsea mines her past for stories about her family, relationships, and career that are at once singular and ridiculous. Whether she's convincing her third-grade class that she has been tapped to play Goldie Hawn's daughter in the sequel to Private Benjamin, deciding to be more egalitarian by dating a redhead, or looking out for a foulmouthed, rum-swilling little person who looks just like her...only smaller, Chelsea has a knack for getting herself into the most outrageous situations. Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea showcases the candor and irresistible turns of phrase that have made her one of the freshest voices in comedy today.

Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea July 27, 2010 Anita L Crane (Park City, Utah) Good title, but the fun ends there. if you are stuck in a car on a six hour drive, and you need to entertain yourself and your husband who is driving, I guess this book would be better than a stiff poke in the eye, but after the first chapter it goes downhill quickly. I kept looking for something to make me laugh (as promised by the reviewer at the book store). I guess my mind is not as twisted as I thought. And, I don't think I'm a prude.
Chelsea's view of the situation works as a 12 year old, and I have to admit the first chapter was kind of funny...but, Chelsea in subsequent chapters, as a 23 (and up) year old, didn't work, it quite frankly sucked. Sorry I paid full price and bought it for a friend for a birthday present, (eeek, is that like re-gifting) unfortunately, now I have to look for another gift for my friend. The book was disappointing. So I guess I'll have a Vodka on the rocks, and toss the book in the garbage.
honest comic relief July 27, 2010 anne headley This isn't a book that you can spend days with, but it will spend days with you. Some of the stories she tells had me laughing to myself weeks later! Chelsea is just so freaking hysterical in the things she does and how she retells them. You want to peak into someone's not so perfect life, see things from a slightly skewed aspect, and laugh your butt off? Read this book.
The Bible to Comedy July 20, 2010 La Toya This book is great. I loved it and read it in less than 5 days over periods of free time. It's very easy to get through and it's funny. Horizontal is also good, if you liked this one.
There isn't much to say but that this book is good and I'm sorry my sister own it, since I've read it already, I'm not buying this for myself, but if I did own this one, I would definitely not throw this out! It's great and amazing and Chelsea keeps the book relaxed and funny.
Chelsea's book disappointed me July 19, 2010 C. Stacy (Massachusetts) Books were not as funny as I expected. I think Chelsea is a hilarious, but it doesn't come across that way in her books. Actually, I was a bit turned off that she would write a book like this.
Very Entertaining July 16, 2010 Mirs Inissamot I never find the time to read so I decided to start with something fun.
This book was very entertaining and VERY funny.
