Be careful of what you eat July 28, 2010

Throughout the book there are mentions of how artificial food is poisoning us. Our meat and dairy products are full of synthetic hormones and other chemicals and our fruits and veggies are loaded with pesticides and other chemicals. Did you know that the entire European continent will not import our meat because of the harmful stuff we put in it? Some of our fruits have lost their flavor while in other countries their fruit and veggies enhance more meals because they are tastier and less harmful. The importance of sleep is mentioned in numerous places. Getting to bed between 9 and 10 pm is a must and sleeping in total darkness turns on the much needed melatonin which not only allows us to sleep, but has many antioxidant properties. Melatonin is not available over the counter in Canada...It is a hormone. This was amazing with all of the information and symptoms tied to low hormones. It was an easy read even though there was a lot of information from doctors and information about the effects on your body. The suggestions seemed a little overwhelming at times even though I realize I probably shouldn't eat sugar at all ever for the rest of my life it still seems a little extreme but I can still take what I want from it and be better off.

I read Suzanne Somers' book Ageless in 2006 and couldn't get my hands on biodentical hormones fast enough. I had no genetic history of breast cancer, my mammograms were completely normal that year.
In March 2008, I was diagnosed with estrogen-positive, Stage 3 breast cancer!! I lost both my breasts and went through two years of grueling therapy to battle the disease. Thank God, I am fine now, taking Tamoxifen for life, which actually BLOCKS all estrogen--its proven to increase survival rates significantly.
My doctor told me that taking biodentical hormones actually fed my malignant tumors in my breasts and made them grow faster!
Had I not taken those pills I may still have my real breasts today. Please,, know there are risks to taking biodentical hormones. Don't take them, they could save your breasts, they could save your life.

Until I read Suzanne Somer's book on bioidentical hormones, I had no idea how much of a
role hormones played in various symptoms. And everything in the book makes sense now that
I've had my hormone levels checked to find that I was estrogen dominant. This is a must
read for all women, young and old!!!
